Great news for schools and colleges wanting to deliver forensic science programmes at Level 3! The Department for Education has released the first stage of qualifications which will count towards performance tables in England for 2020 results. Pearson’s new BTEC Level 3 National in Forensic and Criminal Investigation is included in respect of the Diploma (720 GLH) and the Extended Diploma (1080 GLH).
Sci-High provide events and workshops at schools and colleges to support two of the programme units – Unit 4 Forensic Investigation Procedures in Practice; and Unit 10 Forensic Fire Investigation.
For the Forensic Investigation Procedures in Practice unit we provide full-day events based around the investigation of an aggravated burglary at the school or college. The event covers all the respects of a professional crime scene examination; forensic practical including blood patterns, fingerprints, physical fit evidence, document examination, paper chromatography, footwear marks, DNA, digital evidence, hair, paint and a weapon; and a role-play courtroom trial in which students take all the courtroom roles.
We also provide a large student workbook, the completion of which provides a strong basis for the preparation of assignments.
